Tonight’s Youth Night, “Close the Gap,” takes us to 1 Samuel 13, where we see the consequences of allowing fear, impatience, and disobedience to create distance between us and God. Saul found himself in a difficult situation. Instead of waiting on God and trusting His instructions, he allowed pressure to influence his decision. His impatience created a gap between where God wanted him to be and where he chose to go. As young people, we can face similar moments when we feel pressured to make quick decisions, fit in, or take matters into our own hands. But God is calling us to close the gap—to draw closer to Him through obedience, trust, patience, and faith. Tonight, we will be challenged to examine the areas of our lives where we have allowed compromise, distraction, fear, or disobedience to create distance from God. The closer we get to God, the more clearly we hear His voice and the more faithfully we follow His will. Come ready to be challenged, encouraged, and reminded that it’s never too late to turn back toward God and close the gap.

Tonight we begin our Called Kids Rally with a powerful reminder from Jesus: “For many are called, but few are chosen” (Matthew 22:14). God has a purpose and calling for every child. He is inviting them to know Him, follow Him, and live for Him. But being called requires a response. Tonight’s message will help our children understand that God is calling them to something greater than simply being part of the crowd—He is calling them to choose Him, obey His Word, and faithfully follow His plan for their lives. As we begin this rally, our prayer is that every child will recognize God’s voice, respond to His call, and discover that they have a special place in His kingdom. Many may hear the call, but those who respond with faith and obedience are the ones who are chosen to walk in God’s purpose. Key Scripture: Matthew 22:14 Theme: God is calling you—will you answer?

There are moments in our walk with God when faith requires us to step beyond what is comfortable, familiar, and secure. In Matthew 14:26–31, Peter sees Jesus walking on the water and makes a bold request: **“Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”** At the command of Jesus, Peter steps out of the boat and walks toward Him. Peter’s experience reminds us that faith is not simply believing that Jesus can do something—it is being willing to respond when Jesus calls us to step out. The boat may represent what feels safe and predictable, but sometimes Jesus calls us to leave the boat and trust Him in places where we cannot depend upon our own strength. As Peter walked toward Jesus, his attention shifted from the Savior to the storm around him. Fear took over, and he began to sink. Yet even in Peter’s failure, Jesus was there. When Peter cried out, **“Lord, save me,”** Jesus immediately reached out His hand. This message challenges us to examine where God may be calling us to step out in faith. Are we willing to leave the boat? Are we trusting the voice of Jesus more than the noise of the storm? And when our faith becomes weak, will we remember that Jesus is still close enough to reach us? **“Command me to come to You”** is a prayer of surrender, courage, and faith—a willingness to step toward Christ even when the circumstances seem impossible. The goal is not to focus on the waves, but to keep our eyes fixed on the One who commands us to come. **Come out of the boat. Trust His Word. Keep your eyes on Jesus.**
